Checked DTC Killed Radio

Checked DTC Killed Radio
I followed the steps outlined in one of the posts to check the DTC for a "Service Engine Soon" warning that involved using a paper clip to ground out terminals A and B in the ECM'* diagnostic connector Now my radio does not work.
Any ideas? :(

Sorry, I ment to put this in and forgot. It is a 1997 SE 3800 Series 2. One post said that the trick worked for model years up to 1993 and another somewhere listed up to 1999.
Thanks

The article in Techinfo is specific for years up to and including 1993. I'm hoping you just smoked a fuse. Have you checked them yet? What functions do/don't work on your radio? Does the clock even work?

Only the lights that illuminate the controls are working. I checked what I thought was the fuse and it was OK. I did not have time to pull them all. And no the clock is not working. The display is totally out.

Hmm. I'll have to look at an electrical diagram to see what you did. I don't have one for a 97.... Maybe the 94 will be similar. I'll look when I get home. Hopefully just a fuse.
Yes, the procedure only works for vehicles with the 12-pin diagnostic connector, which they quit using in late 1993/ early 1994.

I appreciate the help, You may want to check all the possible stupid things that could happen with what I did. I was not sure I had the right a and b terminals and tried some others. The diagram I was looking at turned out to be upside down from what I thought it was.

Hold The Presses
Hold the presses. It was a fuse but not the one that the manual said it should be. I pulled all of the 10A fuses and found a blown one, replaced it and the radio is back. I am still curious as to why the ALCL would have a tie-in to the radio.
Aso, is there a way to read the DTC in the 1997 Bonneville without going to the dealer or purchasing an expensive scope?
