I thought that my carpet was gett'n wet from my door seals so I repaired them with the permatex super weatherstrip adhesive, dried my carpet and let my wife drive it for a week in the rain and snow. Just checked my carpet and it'* soaked again! I pulled my carpet up and saw these panels (pics below). Could these panels be leaking? Any thoughts on this problem? Thanks , Bob.

no way those panels are leaking. those are just tar stickers basically.

what area of the floor are those pics? I can't tell.

the best way to find the leaks? take out the seats, center console, and carpet and have someone spray a hose all over the car while you sit inside and watch where it comes from.

No, I don't have a sun roof. The pictures were taken with the rear seat removed and my arm is touching the back of the drivers seat. Any Ideas ?? Thanks.

You may think that you "repaired" the doors seals, but its not as simple a fix as you might think.

In most cases, the plastic roof rail rain gutters on the top edge of the roof are to blame. Either they have cracks in them or the sealing surface that glues them to the metal has dried up. The rain water flows thru them and runs into the inner channel of the door molding, then finds its way into the interior.

There is only one product I have found to be successful at sealing up the door seals. Silicones and other tube based sealers will not work. What you need is GB Duct Seal molding compound. Ace Hardware stocks this item. It comes in a brick shape and looks like very sticky grey colored molding clay.

Remove your door seal and clean them and the mating surface of any dirt/ prior adhesive. Work the door moldings well up into the upper coners and tight around the curves. you should have a gap left at the bottom of the sill. Then, meticulously work the molding compound onto the metal door surface and push it to meet the molding junction. Do it on the inside of the door moldings as well. If you follow my advice, your door seals will never leak again.

BTW, there are several orther trouble spots that water could leak in from.

Sunroof drain tubes
Rear tailights
Rear window
Cracks in body panel adhesives
Opening in the firewall
Hood hinges

Sorry, no pics. But to repair the door moldings.

Remove them and clean the metal car surface of dirt.
Use a putty knife to scape off old foam adhesive from plastic roof rail.
Put some GB molding clay over the screws holes on car.
Shape the GB in hands into a round elongated shape (like a snake body) and run it along car roof just at the height of scew holes.
Repair cracks in plastic roof gutters by gluing down with crazy glue, some cloth medical grade tape. Then when on car, cover the repair with black silicone and run the silicone into any remaining cracks(underside) Also, when putting back roof molding. Push on with hands first and work it flush, take yout time. Then screw it back down, do not over tighten. You will strip the hole or crack the plastic. Use a larger size screw in any stripped holes.

Look in general chat. The gutter seals are clearly shown on my SLE. I'm still in the midst of repairing these leaks.

'water water everywhere' in General Chat will show you what you need to do. The water gets under the gutter, then wicks into the door seal, and travels down the back edge of the seal, under the rear seat, and under the carpet at the sill.

I personally prefer 3M body and trim sealant (black). Semi-permanent and seamless.
