Well this car has been nothing but problems for me, Im up to $500 in parts trying to fix it and its getting old. I've fixed some of the problems in the process but Im giving up. Its very stumbly at low rpms with a load on it, once you give it more then 1/4 throttle it runs fine. It also dies at random times when slowing down to turn or stop, The rpms jump a few times and then dies unless you give it some gas. Some times it does this other times its perfectly fine. Computer codes said EGR Position Sensor and AIT Sensor, Well I popped the egr of and cleaned it, and put a new AIT sensor in, And its still doing it. Before that heres the list of what I've done. Used compter (fixed alot of problems) TPS Sensor replaced, Replaced dirty air filter with cone filter, fuel filter, new plugs, all new battery cables. Fuel pressure is a steady 35 psi at idle, and 40 before start up. I am to the point where Im probably going to paint the car and sell it if it doesnt settle out here soon.

I'm pretty sure fuel pressure should be a little hier than that.

When you cleaned and replaced the sensors. Did you disconnect the battery? If no..please try it.

Fuel pressure is good at idle, how about when you drive it or hold the throttle a little for a moment. I've seen them spike about 5 lbs and drop like a rock. That would be a bad fuel pump.

Fuel filter...is possible..

Well in regard to the fuel pressure, 35 is what 1993 SLE told me last night when I talked to him. When I did the test for pressure, I revved it, and checked, and also put the ebrake on and put a load on it for a few mins, and let the car get good and warm to make sure the pump was failing due to heat. The CEL light only comes on after the car has accelerated once or twice. I could try blowing out the fuel filter, as the filter is about a month old. I will try to disconnect the battery for a little while, I had my friend clear the codes with his code reader yesterday and the lights back on again though, havent checked to see if either the one of the 2 things are gone though.

Key on, Ignition off, the fuel pressure should be 41-47psi MINIMUM. You are below the spec that the dealer would replace the pump at. It very well could be contributing to your problem. Until you rule that out, you may never now what else may be causing it.

Personally, I'd replace the fuel pump at 41psi minimum, if not higher.

Well I would say its probably right at 41, That guage doesnt have EXACT Incriments, But it was right above the 40 mark. Should I replace the filter again then test?

A filter that'* only one month old won't necessarily be a problem. You can if you want to, as it'* cheap, and smells great.

Losing power in turns is indicitave of a debris-filled strainer on the pump pickup tube, or CAN be. 41psi is at the low end of acceptable. Those L67'* with smaller pulleys could never survive in that pressure range.

We need a bit more troubleshooting. Pull the vacuum line off the FPR right after driving (warm car) and check for fuel in the vac line. If there is fuel, your FPR should be replaced.

A scantool on your car would tell volumes of information as well.

And in the meantime, put your MAF screen back in.

The MAF screen is in 2 pieces up in Pa. where I was going to school. So I guess I need to get a new one? Also I will check the FPR like you said. And the only thing the scantool is coming up with is Low Signal AIT, and EGR Position Sensor, and I havent got it checked since I put a new sensor in and cleaned the EGR, cause no place around here will check it without charging alot, and the other place is closed on weekends. As it is now, I am out of money and start my new job 50 miles round trip daily on Monday and this is my daily transportation.

i had suspected that the fuel pressure might have been low....and i said anything below 35-40 indicates a failing pump, can you drive the car and watch the Fule pressure gague at the same time
