Is there a way to make this work once again?

Are you sure you don't have it in "valet" mode? The valet switch is in front of the latch in the trunk.

If you find out that the button is bad in the door, PM me. I have one brand new in the package. I bought it before throughly investigating my trunk button issue in my 99. Ended up being that stupid valet switch was flipped!!!

you should take the button out and put a peice of wire in the terminals to complete the circuit. If it still doesn't open your trunk, you probably have a bad solinoid(i'm a bad speller).

I'm 160 miles from my digital camera. I'll post one tomorrow night when I get home, if someone else hasn't already done so by then.

what does the valet switch do. Im guessing that it disables the button in the on the door?

I want my button to work when the RAC and the key is off. MI guessing that just run a 12v constant to the button

Yes, that'* exactly what it does. It'* an override switch.

You'd need a new solenoid, it'* attached to the back of the key hole, inside the trunk. My solenoid failed so i ghetto rigged up a spare door popper solenoid(which i would not recommend). I'm not exactly sure how to change the factory one.
Maybe a wrecker or u-pull it?

I wired up my own switch and eventually wired it INTO that circuit. I would recommend not having it set to 12v constant unless you dont keep valuables in the trunk (break glass, push button, voila). I do, so if the car is locked and the acessories off then the only way to my valuables is a crowbar.... and thats not easy at all.

Yes U-Pull-its have them relatively cheap

on GMPD its like $16 for a new one... so its almost better to go that way....
