Traction Control Light Stuck

95 SLE 3.8L Supercharged - 77k miles
Over 2 months it was dropping voltage to 12v then immediately returning to 14 volts, when stopped at a light. So I replaced the alternator & belts two weeks ago. Everything was fine for the 2 weeks then yesterday my wife dragged the car home running on the battery - ZERO VOLTS! I shut it off, and checked the wiring and belts for the alternator. All fine. I jump started it and it runs fine except the Traction OFF light is lit and will not respond to the console button. I had this problem once before when the Supercharger gasket was leaking, which I have replaced every 30k!

Anywhere I should look first? I'm ready to trade it in and want to get this issue fixed before I take it down the street to the dealer.

I have a similar problem with my 95 SSEi. I have replaced the same gasket twice now. I also have the light on the dash. It works fine for a while after the car is started but then anywhere from 5 to 50 minutes after it comes on and stays on. I had it scanned once and they told me the control unit for traction control was bad. I would have gotton it fixed but it was $700 for the part alone.

Aside from the alternator woes, how's the brake fluid level? If it goes a little low in the reservoir, first thing that happens is the ABS and/or Traction Control Off warnings light up because the system hasn't got enough reserve fluid to operate. If the fluid is not at the full mark in the reservoir, add some.

The dealer will only give you wholesale for the car (if they give you more than that, you can bet they'll be recouping their extra outlay in whatever they charge you for the new car). Sell it privately or via this group and you'll get more money.

I have ABS and Traction probs too. It can get very expensive. You need to take it to the dealer to get it scanned.

Traction Control Light Stuck

Problem gone!

I got under the bonnet and went through more electrical connections. I found the + battery terminal corroded. I cleaned it with baking soda and a toothbrush. When I reconnected and started her the ATC light was functioning properly again. Was it the corrosion or the fact that I had the power disconnected for 5 minutes? Who knows, but it's working great.

So, what is the car worth wholesale/Retail?

I'm having the same issue now but my sunroof won't open and my remote locks aren't either. They were just working the day before and I haven't done anything to the car any advice on what to do?

From what I saw on my '95, sometimes a check engine light will trigger traction off. If it happens again, perhaps you could check for some stored codes.
