Timing Chain Cover Gasket Replacement. Few Ques.
First off it says i need to replace the oil pan gasket and i'm asking why? i just did the pan gasket and installed a new oil pump pickup to try and fix my low oil pressure. ANd when i did this there didn't seem to be an issue with the oil pan in the way of interfering with the timing cover unless i'm not paying attention lol could be.
What gaskets should i get do i need to realign any sensors all i want to do is replace the gasket cause it'* leaking a lot of oil and i'm tracing it up there i know it. my buddy works for lexus and does these things all the time so i was going to have him look at it and do it for me. Is there anything else i'm missing does anyonehave some pics or threads they can point me in the direction of. Thanks Brian.

I'd stick with Delco or Fel-Pro gaskets. As for re-aligning sensors, I don't think there'* anything to align, just make sure they're all plugged in.

I'm in the middle of replacing my timing chain. The FSM states that if the oil pan gasket is excessively swollen, replace it at the same time (the bottom of the timing cover rests on the oil pan). If your like me, you crumpled the pan gasket anyway putting the timing cover back on. No biggie though, I'll be dropping the pan and replacing the gasket as a last step anyway, yeah, it'* swollen. If yours is new, and you get the timing cover back on carefully, you will probably be fine.
As far as a low oil pressure problem, did you check it with a oil pressure gauge first? Our sensors and wiring harness' have a history with funky oil pressure readings. Mine went flaky and it turned out to be a broken wire at the oil pressure sending unit.
