Do you have the VATS resistor pellet in your key? If so, have you tried your spare key? Maybe try cleaning the vats contacts in the ignition switch tumbler with alcohol and a q-tip.

You mean to say that the key will mess things up like that . I ask cause I was reading this subject and my car has ben doing some odd things. The other day all the gauges went off while I was drive and came back on a few times. Also every once in a while the air bag light and traction control light come on and stays on. Once I shut the car off and restart it ...it is fine..weird...could it be the same. I do not have a spare key to try it..

I agree. Boomin has a totally different, simpler problem. Yours is a major electrical dropout somewhere. Maybe at the battery negative junction to the block, or even a low-output alternator.

That is what I was thinking first....but I was reaching at straws once I read this subject. I am thinking it is a alternator on it way out. I can get that tested fairly easy. Thanks though Willwren.

I've had the EXACT problem.
Here'* the problem The security system needs to mimic the resistance of your key. Mine had and issure where if the temperature dropped to low the connectors that they use to connecttor that they use clipps onto the wire and can sometimes disconnect. When this happens the car will not start period. I even pulled all the connections on the unit.
Try this avenue first

i will have to consider that....it did not start once yesterday, but after the light went out it fired right up again...today it started everytime (knock on wood)...ive worked at a service station for 5 years and never seen this problem...ive tried the spare key and it doesnt always work either...so i figure its either wire or connector....but any advice helps....thanks.
