Tighten Loose Passenger side outside mirror
 

How do you tighten a loose outside passenger side mirror- Its loose at the base of the unit affixed to the car- its rattling and jumping whenever I go over any bumps etc.

Is there any way to tighten it WITHOUT having to remove the side door panel etc????

and you need long skinny arms and a small 10mm wrench

Actually....I've got mirrors down to a science. It does require one 10mm flex head ratcheting wrench though.

And the door panel must come off. There's no other way to access the bolts.

I made a 2' 1/4" extension for my project, but ended up just shoving my arm up there with a 10mm open end wrench.

Having done about 5 sets of mirrors now..I've learned..
A socket and ratchet aren't going to work well
A regular wrench isn't the answer..but you can make it work with blood loss
A ratcheting wrench will help greatly
A flex head ratcheting wrench is what the Dr. ordered.

Thing is the angle of the studs with with the nuts on them isn't what you would expect. This couples with the angle of the door panel and your range of motion behind the window regulator makes it a tough one handed job.

Add a flex head and have angling on your side...the mirror is a 2 minute job once the door panel is off.

Was REALLY hoping for the LAZY MAN'S way out- like a hidden hex screw etc on the outside- no such luck- Oh Well!!!!

However once you have pulled a door panel off..you realize...they are pretty quick and easy.
