throttle fluctuation while in park
my car has not cut off while sitting in park but it throttles down where you can feel almost cutting off (prob just started maybe a week ago)
pre history My thermostat housing leaked coolant after I THOUGHT  that the 2 bolts were on there super tight. coolant leaked on the wiring connecter for the throttle and now the plastic clip that goes on to the sensor has cracked and is very brittle. I don't want to touch for fear it will do more damage. I got to a pontiac dealership and show him the brittle clip and he says he know how to fix that. I just drove the car from atlanta to chicago so i've put about 1500 miles on her. My baby is built for the road. Every time I've gone to a dealer and tried to research they were always wrong. But everytime I come to this website they are right on point. willwren rightly told me that I previously needed ign module but when I went to dealership they said I needed a timing chain. pls help |
For an idle issue like that, I'd:
1. Make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks 2. Clean the throttle body (prefereably take it off first) 3. Check the idle air control valve. |
how do i replace the throttle ecletrical wiring connector clip that is damaged?

Go to a salvage yard, cut a good one off, install in your vehicle being sure to seal soldered splice very well. Don't screw up the wiring, be sure each wire is splice to the correct wiring in your car.
Its not difficult at all but if you are not comfortable with this perhaps you have a friend who is good with wiring? |
