Anyone heard of Borg Warner 02 sensor?

I can get one @ pretty much half the price of AC Delco ( remember I'm in Canada )..
But I don't want it to be some POS like Bosch 02 sensor..

P.*. 1997 SSEI according to techinfo is AFS-109 right?

Get the AC Delco O2 sensor; do not waste your time with other brands.

Denso > AC Delco
You can't go wrong with either but if you start modding Denso owns all...

As I had heard of the problems with Bosch, I tried a Borg Warner in my 2000 SSEi. It lasted about 3 months before it threw a code. I replaced it under warranty, and that one lasted maybe 6 months before it also threw a code. I'm now back to the AC Delco.

The Borg Warner has been working fine in my son'* '99 Grand Prix GT for a couple of years now. Perhaps they work better in N/A engines?

I'd be a little leery of that Denso. In my quest to determine if the NGK O2 is the same as the OEM, (why not, NGK makes AC Delco spark plugs, right?) I've run across several references to O2 sensor problems on other forums. The nasty little secret starting to come to the surface now is that apparently some of the BOSCH O2 sensors you buy are actually DENSO, but packaged as Bosch. And some of them are having problems.

In a nutshell, some of the Bosch O2 sensor failures (at least in other automotive types) are actually DENSO.

Who makes what? Still unsure (unconfirmed) about NGK and AC Delco, but now it appears DENSO makes some of the Bosch sensors, and either one or both may have problems. BTW, the Dakota Forums are having Bosch problems as well, and these may be Denso'*.

Stick with AC Delco to be safe for now.

borg warner was...and still a supplier to GM for parts like o2 sensors....they arent as big of a supplier these days but about 10 years ago they were a boomin company, before gm spun them off

It'* widely believed that NGK supplies the O2'* for AC Delco, but has never been proven (they LOOK identical in every way).

I don't think Borg Warner supplies much for AC Delco any longer, and doubt that they supply the O2'*.

As I understand from a friend that used to work In Detroit as a supplier management engineer for GM, prior to his departure, GM had choosen Standard Products for their O2 sensors. Also, he said the electronic components that are built for GM by outside suppliers, they are built on GM specs and they also are under surveillance for quality control and meeting the specs by GM personnel. The commercial replacements such as Bosch. NGK and others that do no longer supply to GM, stop going through the previous strict quality control processes because cost, are mass produced. I have a Standard Products brand and have not expereinced any problems or codes. I compared it to the OEM and they are identical even on the part markings. A co-worker purchased a Standard Products O2 sensor for his Nissan pick up truck and was in shock when it had the Nissan part number stramped on the body as the OEM.

The Borg Warner sensors look quite different fromt the AC Delco. The sensor tube is a smaller diameter which may have something to do with the failures I experienced.

Look and hold an Bosch and Denso O2 sensor in your hand - they are totally different. Denso O2 sensors not only resists lead (can use leaded fuel at the track as long as you don't have a cat) but outperform OEM sensors during normal use. Denso sensor is cable of 60 switch counts per second, far exceeding the OEM counterpart.

Denso O2 sensors are the best O2'* you can buy!
