throttel boddies (cleaning)
 

just had to pull my throttel body to chang my TPS so i took it all in the house and took it apart and stuck the striped throttel boddy in the dish washer got a can of degreaser and some throttel boddy cleaner ran it about 1/2 way through 1 cycle and degreased it and finished then took it out then did the throttel body cleaner and did a nother wash cycle and now it looks almost like new and dont know how but my MAF screen is mia lol

That's not a bad way to clean it, but you should use an intake cleaner solvent before the wash cycles. Tell me you removed your MAF sensor before doing this???

o ya it got striped all the way down even the screen got lost befor the wash
and did the cleanre be for the 2nd wash

just got it put back on the car is it suposed to runn better with out all that black junk in it lol
seems like a new car after the cleaning and new TPS was all carboned up around the IAC as well so not a bad thing i did it well any how my bonne is happy and so am i

Does anyone have a documented procedure on how to properly clean the throttle body?

you don't really need a procedure to clean it....it's all pretty straight forward. Like they said above, remove all the sensors before you douse it with intake cleaner or gasoline or your choice of solvent (most people wouldn't reccomend carb cleaner though) oh yeah, take the throttle body off of the car first.

If you haven't already replaced the throttlebody-to-intake gasket, make sure you do while you're there.

That about sums it up. And a toothbrush helps, too.
