Theory: IAT placement

My IAT sensor is currently after the nitrous nossle which is in the path of a spray. Now by collecting information from BC members, logic, and what little physics I can understand...I was thinking maybe it would be best to get a new IAT and locate it in the hole in the 4750 K&N filter thats built in. Why? I was thinking maybe the IAT is getting really confused when nitrous is sprayed over it throwing false readings and it may be destroying the filter itself...because its getting kinda nasty.

Anyone have input?

i agree locate it down wind from the nozzle

Since we're theorizing, I would definitely move it "upstream" from the Nitrous. My theoary is that if it thinks the air is warmer than it really is, the NOS will have a better effect.

I've been pondering a way to trick mine into reading a higher temp so that I can potentially take advantage of the cold MN air. (Poor man's NOS)

Actually Mos, you have it backwards. For performance, you want it to read COLDER than it actually is, but the returns will be very limited. The O2 sensor won't take long to realize you're running too rich, and cause an adjustment in your A/F ratio. It might be good for a good track run, but not much longer than that.

Yea I've been slowly figuring out what Will has been telling me for a while, the computers in these things are almost too smart to fool. Perfect example, you know you can unplug the cam sensor while its running and it will continue to run? It'll get its injector pulse timing from the last known position of the cam and guesstimate (like that huh?) its position by the TPS and other sensors. I dunno if every modern computer can do that but I think thats pretty cool. I've even unplugged the MAF and IAT sensor and it'll still run after about 30seconds of hesitation while it figured things out. Not great but I could drive it.

Thats why I thought by putting the IAT in the filter itself, it would be farthest from heat...plus who knows if the extremly cold temps of the nitrous are doing any good. :?
