Hey everyone! as you may or may not know I got into a little fender bender a while ago and now whenever im driving the light for the parking brake turns on and the same beeping noise as when a door is open comes up and the parking brake is not even on! someone please help guide me on how to fix this! it is very annoying

Uh, no. The dinger covers a multitude of sins, not just the parking brake...

Is the parking brake pedal up _all_ the way? If it isn't, that allows a plunger to ground the warning wire at the pedal assembly under your dash. You could conceivably disconnect the wire there (I have an idea it'* light brown, but can't swear to that), but keep in mind that you're probably fixing the symptom instead of the disease that way...

Another possibility is that your accident (whatever it was) somehow pinched the wire and grounded it elsewhere, which would lead to the same problem, but which would not be fixed by disconnecting it at the pedal.

Ah, here we go, from the wiring diagrams: the wire at the parking brake is tan with a white tracer.

Also, if the parking-brake switch is the culprit, and so the car "thinks" you've forgotten to release the parking brake, you'll not only get the warning light right away, but also get the Multi Function Chime dinging _after_ the car has traveled 50 feet. Interesting way to measure 50 feet if you have forgotten your tape measure: click the parking brake down just far enough to turn the red light on, then start driving off... Try it!

The brake light being on with the warning dinger CAN ALSO BE A MASTER CYLINDER FAILURE. These are the primary indicators.

You COULD be left with no brakes. Look at your MC very carefully for leaks, and proper fluid level. Pay VERY close attention to this for the next few days while you troubleshoot.

Agreed... although I think he should also be getting simultaneous ABS and/or Traction Off (if so equipped) warnings if there was low fluid, shouldn't he?

Anyhow, like Willwren sez, definitely check the fluid...

What do you mean by left with no brakes? because now that you mention it the front right brake is starting to mess up and might need replacing, is that why the dinger comes on?

An inequality between the two braking systems can trigger the light, too, such as if one half is leaking and the other isn't.

Take a look in your brake fluid reservoir ASAP, please; I'm getting the feeling that you've got some more weirdnesses and details that you haven't mentioned to us yet.

By mess up i mean i guess its starting to go out because the front right rotor is rough and not smooth like it should be. also it makes a grinding and sort of screeching sound when im driving and then press the brake

could be that your fluid level is too low then. Which could happen if your brakes are very worn and the fluid level drops because there is so much more fluid in the calipers.
