Default Bonneville crapped out on me tonite.

Was on my way home tonite from my fiances and the bonny died. Started right up and I continued on home. The car acted like it was running lean. About 2 miles from home the check gauges light came on and the oil pressure was just at the edge of the red. I drove it on home. Shut it off and checked the oil level. No oil on the stick. Added some oil and started it up. The thing was smoking way bad out the tailpipe. Is it a valve or what. Also since purchasing the car it has had a knock in the motor. I assummed it was a collapsed lifter. The motor is still making the same noise except now it'* leaking some oil underneath. Somewhere and the back. Had to see since it'* dark. Anybody have any ideas. I was getting ready to start tearing the top end apart to put in my new lifters but now I might just be looking at getting a whole new engine.

Find the leak. That'll get us started. Ultimately, we need to fix the oil pressure methinks. And anything making noise. Assuming we're talking about the SSEi here?

ok here'* the deal. I went out this morning and looked for leaks. All the leaks are old ones and small. Mainly oil pan and valve cover gaskets. The vehicle is still smoking a blue exhaust. So i'm gonna assume that maybe i've busted a ring.

2.5 quarts low can mess with the bottom end. You possibly could have run dry enough to damage it.

valve cover gaskets aren't bad
My 89 leaks alot worse and it'* uses only a quart every 1000 miles. I drove 10 miles and dropped 2 1/2 quarts. Engine noise still only seems to be from the top end but i'm still not exactly sure.

2.5 quarts in 10 miles is about what the Valdeez was dropping. That'* brutal.
