T-50 Torx Bit
 
The Torx Bit holding down the seat belts to the body of the car, how the crap do you remove that sucker? I have the bit and I put it in my wratchet, but all it does is strip it. I used vice grips, hammer to loosen it up, some 3-1 and wiggle it around and it still wont come out. All I got it to do is get it a little loose. Is there a trick to removing this?

There is a sealing strip that is applied over the seat belt hole under the carpet. When the bolt is inserted at the factory, the goop seals up the hole. That's what makes those bolts so difficult to remove. I've broken a couple of torx sockets in the past mainly on the full sized trucks. If it is cold, it will be even more difficult. I have also used vice grips to remove but it really chews up the bolt head.

Are you stripping the bolt head ot the socket? I've found that impact torx sockets are harder than the standard ones. If you are stripping the bolt head, that's a bigger problem.

The bolt head on the passenger side is kind of stripped, but still has traction. The drivers side is still in tact. Chewing up the bolt is the least worry right now, i figure I can always get another bolt from a store. I am using just a regular adapter that goes on a wratchet and I crank on it like a screwdriver. I used vice grips to loosen it up, and it is loose, but when i turn on it, it just keeps turning without coming out...

I would replace it with a bolt from the dealer. Afterall, it is what is holding you in an accident.

It has about an inch of threads. I doubt that the threads are stripped because of the hardness of the bolt. The carpet is kinda loose right where you are working and the bolt shoulder allows it to move freely so it might appear as if it's not coming out. If the bolt is turning... keep turning. With the sealing strip, it will not be loose enough to turn by hand until it's darn near or totally out.

Hmm, it is easy enough to turn by hand right now. I can turn it forever and it never comes out....I turn the bolt, it feels like it is lifting up then it goes back down. I tried prying it up with a screwdriver and turning at the same time, but it does the same thing.

See if you can move the bar that rides along the hump. If you can turn it by hand, it should be out. Sometimes there is a retainer on these bolts that keep it in place during assembly. Although there were no retainers on either of my 93s, yours might have one.

Yea, everything is loose. i can move the seat belt brackets and the bar as well. I will give it another shot. What if I cut the carpet a little bit to see if anything is there, and if it is I could break it...?

If you do have the retainer, yea... snap it off if you can't unscrew it off. The only function they serve is for assembly. Cutting the carpet might not be a bad idea, just be carefull not to cut more than the trim will cover

The only type of retainer I can see/feel is one that the bolt is wedged in to and it turns eay now. I will see if I can get a small screwdriver and pry it off the bolt. Its ridiculously loose now, I can spin the bolt and it keeps on spinning by itself for a little. There is a lot of lee way, but just cant get this finaly piece off.

Just talked to autozone, they said there is a washer or nut underneath my car that is causing my problem. So, gonna look for that now.

Hmm -you got a T50 to work? I just removed the AL7's from the parts car and I couldn't get a T50 to get in the head, and a T45 too small -had to borrow a T47 from a cousin.
Didn't have any retainers though -sounds like you might have messed up the threading. :?

Good luck with getting it out. At least that's your only prob -mine involves a BIG mess of wiring and air lines integrated into the dash wiring harnesses, so I have some lovely dissections to do -both in my 1997 parts car and 1998 driver. :x

I am probably going to look underneath the car later today and see if there are any nuts I can unscrew. Otherwise a interior shop or tapping out the bolt are options. Back seats went in easy, just had to use brute strength to get the bottom portion to fit on.

OK, so anyways I am going to find some needle nose vice grips and grab on to that bolt from underneath the car, then twist from the top. If not, then I am going to cut the bolt head off so the bolt will drop to the bottom, then just use another bolt and make some new threads for it.

The piece holding the bolt together is a nut and washer that is molded together. Think of it like a Abe Lincoln hat....

DAAAAMNNNNNNN! The stupid seat belt clipper is missing on the drivers side! Thats it, I am taking it into a shop tommarow and going to have them put the seats in and use my existing seatblet clips for the buckets. This is getting really annoying anymore
