Suspension Squeaks...

I'm getting a hardcore squeak out of the RF corner when I bounce it, and about 4" of play in the wheel.... Just got alignment with the new tires less than 100 miles ago. I think the tire guys said something to the effect of "You need inner tie rods and hubs" but I wasn't really listening... So.. What's wrong with it and what do I need?

I'd like to know how he did the alignment with bad inner tie rods (if that is the case). What kind of shape are your struts in? Does it bounce more than twice when you press downon the hood and let go? Are any of the stut casings wet from a blown strut?

Checking for loose front end parts is easy, Jack the car up on that corner wggle the wheel assembly. If the hub is or the inner tie rod are loose the assembly will have play in it. And, yah you cannot do an alignment (properly) with loose front end parts....how do you adjust the toe on it if it has 0.080" play either direction????

My guess may be the strut...Mine made alot of squeeking when one burst (left as well). Also check you sway bar end links if they are loose and jingly as well.

No worries!! 8)

I'd agree. The strut will squeak. The other items will cause vibration, wandering steering, clunking in turns, etc. But a full inspection underneath will tell a better story. You don't have to know everything. Just crawl under there and pull on things. Common sense will lead you to the problem, or at least rule some items out.
