Sunroof leaks.

I knew I had a small leak somewhere bec my pass side visor area is sagging a lil and I can see some water marks. Never bothered me much but I went through car wash other day and it seems like comin from sunroof. Can I replace the seal? And is that a common replacement part?

Could be a disconnected or clogged water drain. Just had my headliner done because of water damage and found the passenger side rear drain was disconnected. Plugged drain back in and put clamps on both drain hoses to try to prevent this from happening again.

Be sure it is not the windshield seal. On the 94, it is just a rubber gasket, and mine was installed poorly at the factory, with "fold-under"... hidden by the windshield trim. Eventually started to rust just a little and leaked around the gasket.

You'll find an article in Techinfo on replacing the sunroof seal. You can get the seal from www.gmpartsdirect.com for a huge discount off of dealer retail. I think the part number is in the article.

All factory sunroofs leak thats why there are drains installed with them.
My passenger side carpet was getting wet in my Intrepid and I was getting dripped on and was told most likely the drain was plugged. I didn't believe it but I finally got tired of it and did a good cleaning of the sunroof and there it was a chunk of felt from the sunroof's runners (I'm guessing) was in the drain plugging it and the front passenger drain tube came disconnected from the exterior of the car I cleaned all the drains (it had 4) it didn't leak in the car after that.

edit: It's when you get sprayed from the sunroof in a car-wash that the seal needs to be replaced.

could i install a sunroof on my 92 ssei? or would that be tooo big of a project?

willwren Sep 10, 2003 12:33 AM

That would be a HUGE project. Very complicated system. Very expensive.

If you're wanting something like that, look at JC Whitney. They have some manually operated moonroofs for very reasonable prices.
