Default Engine Tranny issue.. other issue PART II !!

OK.. now that the car is fixed.. but having problems mechanically. When I try to start the car over it just clicks ( not a battery or connection issue ).. I"m hopeing it'* the starter as it'* cheaper then a seized motor..

And the car won't shift out of park.. the mechanic said they had to remove the tranny cable to get it out of park? Not exactly sure what that meant and thought it was electronic transmission so no shifter cable is there?? Any input guys?

is it possible that you are having problems with the park neutral safety switch? that could be keeping it in park. Try having your starter tested. It isnt that hard to take off on my 94 so maybe it isnt hard on your Series II.

Is it possible that your ECM thinks your car is in gear and won't start due to that? So could a bad tranny linkage cause both those issues???

Not a bad idea.

Can you hear a click under the dash when you press on the brake?

Well talked to some trusted mechanic ( which isn't near my car ) and going to try a few things..

1st. Turn the harmonic balance a bit to ensure that none of the internals of the engine is seized.

2nd. Jump the starter motor straight via booster cable and battery to see if that will turn and if it does that means it'* a loose connector somewhere and if not than I would have to replace the starter

3rd. You can't get the car out of gear without the car being started? That part didn't make sense but never tried on my 97.. All my older cars could. Bill.. was told that the safety brake thingie wouldn't click and shouldn't hear a click when you go on the brakes other then click from the rear lights coming on ????

I hope it'* not the ECU cause I think that would be expensive ( could get a starter for $60 CAN if that fixes all ). How would I troubleshoot to see if it is or not the ECU? ( Reason I"m hopeing it'* not that is I notice the boost guage needle goes to center and reads zero boost but not negative when I turned on the car many moons ago.. )

Thanx for all the help guys.. hopefully I'll have it up and running soon so I can post ***** here again and not feel like a wannabe talkin smack and no bonnie to back it up..

P.*. Keep the info coming guys.. much appreciated

OK.. had one of the body shop neighbors take a quick glance at the car.. this is wat he'* said so far.. the engine is ceased (sp?) something about that it'* been sittin there for close to a year and condensation has made the bore rust to the piston ring?? and that a lot of the bearings are done too.. cause he can't free hand?? he can only turn the harmonic balancer ( pulley ) 1/4 turn?? umm.. if you can turn it a 1/4 turn than it'* technically not ceased right?? Well I"m meeting Tamara'* dad (Kevin) tomorrow and we're going down witha car dolly and we're going to hook up to his truck and get my car ( newly named but not officially yet "RIBBIT the Flipper" Amphibious Buggy ) out of that slime hell neighborhood as I notice a lot of other things that went wrong when it was sittin there.. I will post those later. So Kevins thinkin about removing the spark plugs and pouring down some Rust Check thingie ( don't remember what it'* exactly called ) down the spark plug holes.. let it sit for at least an hour and get the engine to try and turn then trouble shoot the starter and such. He'* mentioned that he'* had, have, seen engine turn that has been sittin for over 5 years and can't be rusted that badly in this time. ( an example was a snowmobile engine that sat there for 4 year old.. I know it'* not the same.. but never the less ) any input willl be greatly appreciated at this time since it seems like it'* time to do some freeze my *** off garage hackin backyard mechanic hope I don't get stuck to side of car leg humpin action going now.

P.*. he also mentioned that there'* a 3800 N/A motor kickin around with ECM that I can use worse case scenario.. ( which does get me around.. but why pay high insurance for a supposed Supercharged car?? That be like a type R Bonnie.. hahahaha )

Remember that your car wasn't just 'sitting around'. It had little accident with water, and likely ingested some through the TB.
