steering column

Wow its been a long time since Ive posted here. Anyway, I had to get my steering column replaced cause apparently some pin bent or w/e, anyway now the steering wheel moves diagonally and the guy told me he called some places and "found out that the 94 Bonneville's are notorious for having problems like that in the steering wheel", is this true or is this asshole trying to f*ck me over?

We need a much more detailed description of the problem, and he's full of shit.

The steering column has four mounting points...two near the collar of the column, and two near where the floorboard goes vertical. It's shifting horizontally because the bolts aren't tightened up.

(I know this because it is fresh in my memory from stripping down my car)
