How to chamge an AC compressor ?
How do I change an AC compressor on a 95 Bonneville? I've checked a Chilton reference...it has "How to'*" for everything but on changing an ac....
The old one on my car finally locked up enough today....can't crank car now... I called a local bone yard for a price and it'll cost around $30. thinking about doing it myself...any info will help...Thanks, Mike

from what i rember when JimmyFloyd, PeterG22000, Ditchhooper and I did it on the side of the road coming back from NEBF its was like 3 bolts and it comes right out. well and you have to unhook the AC lines and deal with that stuff...

Undo the serpentine belt.
Disconnect 2 electrical connections
Remove 2 small bolts from backside of compressor.
Remove single bolt securing A/C hoses from compressor(WARNING, system is under pressure. Better to vent system before doing this step). Either vac it out, or just let it vent out. If you vent it, your violating EPA laws. Unless it leaked out on its own.
Remove 2 large bolts from front side of compressor.
Wiggle it out.
Voila.
Installation is opposite of removal.
Please see vehicle service manual for proper oil and refridgerant recharge quanities.

Is there a valve
I added the right amount of freon/oil to my system but it'* still not cooling...the compressor is kicking on and off and blowing reg. air...
Is there a valve that might be clogged?

Did you tip the can upside down to fill it with freon, or was it rightside up to pressurize the system?

I shook the can while adding it . It was one of those tall cans from wally world aka>walmart. Freon/oil ...the one w/the gages/hose on it... If I did ot wrong how do I correct the problem?
