So I've formed a new Thanksgiving tradition.....UIM and LIM gaskets.

UIM off with an enjoyable amount of oil around the gasket surface...not sure what to think about the amount of oil that is on the gasket mating surfaces.


One of my coolant leaks.....(damn GM o-rings)


LIM gaskets after 1 year...those are the coolant ports that are open into the LIM. I'm not happy at all at their condition.

Wow... I'm amazed at the lowers. That spurs me on to change mine to the aluminum frames.

Nice little holiday project, Robert! After thinking about it, if you still have things apart, how about pics of the upper around the coolant passages and stovepipe areas, the lower around the same areas, and the heads and lower in the areas that show any pitting.

I plan to take more pictures of them...I figured I would clean the parts first, which requires a trip to advance for some cleaners.

I have some pictures of the UIM but they didn't turn out to my satisfaction.

If you don't like the way your LIM gaskets look after one year, there'* 2 things to do:

1. Aluminum framed LIM gaskets.
2. Ditch the DEX.

Dex eats the plastic. God knows what else. Good work, keep at it, but consider changing to the cross-compatible coolant when you're done.

Just picked up the alum framed gaskets (wont get into that) but I have them.

And the dex is gettting ditched for cross compatable stuff as soon as I get to the parts store.

I can't wait to see YOUR LIM gaskets later this winter for comparison to CC'* year-olds and EK98'* 3 year old gaskets (I have them here).

Wow, those LIM gaskets look bad after only one year. Makes me wonder now about mine which are about 1.5 yrs old. But then, my '95 was never cursed with the DEX hex.
