Thanks for checking Bill. Did you go in for the rear bolt behind the front wheel? Or from the front?

I just pulled my battery off the charger, and I'm going to pop it in after breakfast. I'm pretty sure I have a nearly seized bearing in my starter, but I may be able to start it one last time and get it away from the curb and up in the driveway. It's pulling a huge amount of power, and jumping it didn't quite get it there. Maybe the fresh battery will work.

If not, then it's time to crawl into the gutter. The things I do for this car... :D

Michelle, I just crawled under the front, and didn't remove the splash guard. You might find more room by turning the steering wheel all the way over and coming in that way (it should open the wheelwell up a little more) to get the rear bolt. Have some blocks of wood to drop the starter down onto, and to make the install less of a 'lift'.

you guys are making too big of a deal outta this, i fit under the 92 with it on the ground. two bolts the back one you will be able to feel and not see unless its jacked up... my starter bolts had a little plastic cover that was held on by to little screws. it should take around 30-45 minutes to take it out and put one in! ;) have fun

A good set of jackstands under the front end will help ease the access. My 98's starter died on the street (my fault) and a greasy finger neighbor helped me (he can fix anything). A third hand to help hold the starter would help.

B&M...both of you should have no issues.

Both bolts are accessible from in front of the front cross member. Tough to see the second bolt and it can be a little tedious to slowly get it.. overall it's easy and with a little turning will come right out the bottom.

Best suggestion I have is to remember to disconnect battery first (out in this case) and then the starter connections then the bolts.

You could try repping on the starter with a hammer handle while someone turns the key. This may start it then you could move it where you want to.
