New GM part # 89017825 for lim. Any feedback from previous members of their newer aluminum gasket installations would be appreciated. Looking for info on pre 97 installs.

Try reading in Techinfo.

That'* the set we suggest for all L36'* and Series 2 L67'*. We have dozens of cars here running them. There are no fitment issues.

Willwren...I have read all tech Info files and have not seen any feedback on
pre 1997 installs. My interest is mainly on the new siderail gaskets with the
older siderails. :?.My older gaskets ends butted squarely together in the corners.
My newer siderail gaskets ends appear to have tapered corners. Maybe I
missed something in the tech info/links I have read.

All sidewall gaskets from 1987 to current 3800'* have tapered ends that 'tuck' in under the LIM port gaskets. None of them butt squarely together.

We have several 95 and 96 3800'* running these gaskets with no issues.

siderail gasket (tucks in). Thanks for your input/expertise.

Correct. And don't forget to goop the joints. I put a little in first, then the side rail gaskets, then a little more on the 'tips' of that, then the LIM gaskets, then a little tiny bit more.

Most gasket kits give these specific instructions. If you look carefully in these pics, you can see the goop. I also run a VERY thin bead on both faces (under and on top) of the side rail pieces. A little attention to detail (without overkill) is a good thing.

Ok..follow you.....nice work/pics...I am using GM Asssembly Adhesive
for lim gasket installation. I assume everything...gaskets 4 corners top/bottom...
"THIN BEAD" on top /bottom of siderail gaskets is assemblied "WET"...
and final LIM install/torque done while sealant is wet.
I only have 5 minutes for final bonding/24 hr cure per GM directions on tube.
Just need to clarify "EVERYTHING" is installed while sealant is still WET.

Don't use the GM assembly lube in the corners. Use a standard sealant rated for oil use.

Assembly adhesive is just to hold things in place, and there are pins in those gaskets that will do that for you.

Use permatex ultra black or the orange stuff....don't recall the number. Slower setting, and it'* a SEALANT, not an adhesive.
