Stalling when applying brakes
 

How's it goin people... This is the situation, my ol' man has a '95 Bonnie 3.8L Series II; I have noticed that when the car's brakes are applied (in park or drive), the car starts to choke and eventually turns off. This happens 75% of the time the brakes are pressed (trying to be as specific as possible). I also took it for a spin around the block & as soon as I drove it for about 30 feet it completely died (including all electrical components). After about a minute its electricity came back and I was able to turn it on again.
Let me not forget to mention that the car is equipped with a Viper alarm which its cables were ripped apart due to his lack of patience one day. So electricity wise that might have affected it. Whats you guys' opinions? As for the stalling when hitting the brakes I have no idea what that might be, can it be linked to that electrical problem? Help is needed... Thanks, Cesar.

WAIT, u said that you have a Viper security system, did it by chance have a remote start option?? If this the case the Viper system uses the brake input to shut the car off when the remote is used to start the car

Thanks for the quick reply...No, the Viper alarm is one of those old school alarms. It just has the regular arm/disarm with the keyless entry. No remote start. I am assuming these are 2 different problems (electrical, mechanical). I could be wrong being that it is not my car eventhough i am pretty handy with cars but not too familiar with pontiac. I thought of re-wiring the alarm back but he cut the wires too close to the horn and it seems pretty impossible after the mess he created. any thoughts?? Thanks, Cesar.

To me, it sounds like an electrical short in the brake light circuit. When I bought my 93, the car would run fine for about 1-2 minutes and then blow the fuel pump fuse. I found quite a bit of water under the carpet from leaks in two areas. Since clean-up and replacing the carpet, the fuse has never blown.

Just for ha-ha's, pull the fuse for the brake lights. See if you have the same results.
