Default does this modified UIM look okay?

I am installing a Bob Dillon modified UIM and need some advice. Take a look at the following pics and see if this looks overly warped. Between the throttle body and the UIM, I can see the orange gasket. Maybe some of this is normal, but I don't remember if my old one did this or not.

Thanks for any help!

I'm not really familiar with SII, but that doesn't look too comforting to me.

That does not look normal to me. You should not be able to see any of that gasket.

Were those pics taken after you torqued the three TB bolts?

Yes, the pics are after tightening. I removed the uim and put my old one back on, and it had the same gap. I don't know anything about the guy who modifies these, but I'm assuming he must check for unacceptable warpage on the throttle body surface??

I believe Bob D does check for warpage.

If your old one was the same..please take something you know to be true and flat..use that to see if your TB is warped somehow.

I can bet that the TB is somehow warped if you put it on both and they are both warped. Set you TB down on a flat surface and shine a light at the bottom. See any warpage?

That gasket surface is fine. Remember the gasket goes down into a groove in the manifold.

As I remember, that'* a UIM with plugged upper passages as well, so you're just sealing vacuum, not holding coolant coolantpressure.

Boosty, you ever seen a throttle body surface (the throttle body itself, not the UIM surface) that warped? I haven't.

I have the same issue with my UIM/TB, and my car seems to run fine. Mine might not show quite as much of the gasket, but there is a visible gap. Run it and see how she performs.

Not at all Bob...however by not ruling out the near impossible..I've found a bunch of problems faster than most in the past.

Mine shows a bit of a gap there too, and my UIM is brand new. Doesn't seem to be a problem.
