Stalling solved; new problem with computer command ride

Well, the dealer finally figured out the stalling problem on my 97 SSEi. It wasn't a vacuum leak afterall. The problem was the Crankshaft Position Sensor. Engine has been performing just great since they replaced the sensor. Although I have noticed a new problem. The Performance Ride button and the Touring Ride button both seem to be stuck to the on position at the same time. Both lights on the buttons light up at the same time. I push the buttons in and out and they still both remain lit up indicating they are engaged. Sometimes I will turn on the car and just one button will be lit up but as soon as I start driving the other button will light up. I am also starting to notice that the cars ride seems like it is trying to engage both Computer Command Ride modes at the same time which is making for an interesting but annoying driving performance. This has all happened since the Crankshaft Position Sensor was replaced. Any thoughts?

Sounds like either the Command Ride computer is shot or one of the electromechanical struts got unplugged. Check the connectors at the top of the struts to see if they are still plugged in.

My '95 did that exact same thing last winter. I ignored it for a couple of weeks because I was busy at the time, and then after maybe a month or so I was going to swing by and see one of my buds at the pontiac dealer and have him throw the computer on it when the problem went away. It hasnt been back since (over a year ago), and everything works fine now. I'm not sure what it was all about because I never did look into it because the problem seemed to fix itself. Sorry I couldnt be of more help, but I do know exactly what you are talking about.

Later!

Thanks for the info. I will check those connectors on the struts. The problem seems to be happening on and off. Yesterday the command ride buttons worked properly all day. So maybe something is loose.
