SSEi oil gauge dropping...

On start oil pressure looks close to 40 on gauge. After driving for a while on hot engine, and stopping at stop light, pressure goes low.. as I start driving again it goes back to place.

Anything you all can think of?

I would remove the oil pressure sensor and hook up a mechanical oil pressure tester to find out if what your gauge is telling you is accurate.

Don't have money for a tester...do you know of anyone having the same simptoms and the procedure?

Hi Miles..

Seems like a couple posts about oil/oil pressure.

Let's start off at the cheap things. When was the last time the oil was changed and with what kind of oil /filter?

If the pressure isn't dipping into the red zone, you don't need to be worried at this point. However there are things we can look into.

I will change oil today... I'll replace oil with 10W30 Valvoline... than the K&N filter...

So will see... plus the idler pulley that i'm investigating about.. too

How about the "how long has it been?" 3,000miles, 5,000miles.. or I've been bad?

miles26 03-06-2007 05:43 PM

3,500 miles... :(

BillBoost37 03-06-2007 06:21 PM

Cheap crappy oil or good stuff?

miles26 03-07-2007 12:53 AM

I replaced the oil with 10W30, pressure went back to a notch under 40. We'll see when driving warm, and stoping.
