Default anybody have there trunk release button quit working?

the other day the trunk release button on the door quit working. it still pops open when you press the button on the remote and will open with the key, but the button on the car won't work. do you think maybe the harness came unplugged from the switch? it worked ealier that day and then quit a couple hours later.

Its possible that the harness became disconnected or you have some corrosion on the connector.

I had that happen to me on the 94. Wound up replacing the switch.

Default Valet switch

This happened to me on 98 Buick. I expected some upside down time under the dash to follow wiring. I had had the glovebox off several times working on the programmer months ago so I figure connect came loose on back of glove box.

BUT it was just the valet switch inside the glove box had been pushed just hard enough that it was disconnecting the remote button on the dash. Easy fix. Big sign of relief!

Hope that'* your problem.

I agree that it'* very likely you have your valet switch turned on in the trunk.

If you find that'* not the case, let me know. I had the EXACT same issue with my 99. Ended up being the valet switch....didn't find that out until after I bought a brand new door button from GM.

If you need it, let me know. Still brand new in the wrapper.

I'm putting $5 on the lockout switch in the trunk.

Pop trunk with remote and right next to latch..push it the other way..now try button.

if that'* not the case say so and I'll use the $5 to send you a good button.

So the Bonnie has the lockout inside the trunk instead of the glovebox.

If the remote works that means the relay that'* actuated by the button or the remote is working. So most of the system is working.

We've had this discussion before. The door buttons are pretty flakey. Mine works, if I hit it just right. 9 times out of 10 tho, I just give up and use the remote.

I don't remember what we decided was the major factor in the button issue, but it was pretty common when this first came up....

well, went and looked in the trunk and the switch didn't looked like it was flipped, but I touched it and relized it was partially flipped which I guess is enough to lock out the button. why even put that switch on the car. if the valet has your keys he can get into the trunk!!!
