Default whats your opinion on this topic????

The guy who sold me the bonneville took the car to a local (large named) business and had the car emission tested and certified.
Well after putting 1000.00 into things needed to be fixed for the certification (which I listed in another post of mine) they missed what we seem to think is the brake rotars (sp?) being warped. Hubby is pissed and phoned this company who did the certification and they told him it would cost him 300.00 to fix after explaining that their company just passed it....so big deal, this is not about the money, its the principle of the issue....So hubby told them he wants head offices number, phoned them and they still wouldnt deal with it....he told them that if this isnt resolved he would make this not a small issue any longer.....maybe some tv stations and large newspaper articles just for a start would make it an issue for them.

Whats your take on a situation like this looking at both sides and maybe legally?

What would you do if you were in our situation?

My personal opinon would to see if their is a place that could do it for cheaper. Since its the brakes it will be hard to prove that the brakes werent good at the time of inspection and purchase. There are a couple of factors that I know of that could make the brakes warp. Also $300 doesnt sound all that bad as compared to lawyer costs as well as court fees and other charges that is if you win of course. But thats just my two cents. Also how many miles has it been since you bought the car?

I agree with jr's3800 on the brakes. I just replaced my rotors and pads for $65.00US. It took me about 45 minutes to do both sides and that was taking my time. If hubby can't do it, ask some friends. I'd really hate to see you waste all that $$$ on labor..

well we didnt totally win the fight....there were so many little reasons why we didnt but we got the bill knocked down to 90 instead of 300. So the squeaky wheel got greased a bit. Better than nothing.... They really shouldnt have passed the car the way it was. But the previous owner was advised to get this work done, and its in writting, but the owner didnt get it done...we were told that the rotors were on a fine line of being passed .... Buddy (Manager at one of the chain stores) stated he would not put his family in the car like it was. At least he was honest. And had somewhat of a heart....
Anyways...just goes to show if you bitch enough when you know you have some ground to stand on...you can save some money.....lol!

Thanks for the advice guys!
