Looking like it will be time for me to purchase some of the Monroe Sensatracs for the Bonne.

So I'll be ordering the #71798 for the rear, and #71822 for the front. After reding the techinfo page, it seems that these units are both air and gas, so am I understanding it right, that my CCR system will work once I have these installed? If so, is it easy to figure out hooking them up? I won't likely be doing the work myself, no time, and the weather is not that enjoyable for driveway work this time of year. I have a local shop that doesn't seem to mind installing owner-supplied parts, and it looked like they could not come close to matching the price I can get the Sensatracs for thru Checker auto.

Related question: Monroe has part numbers for the boots, which i'll obviously need. What is the rule-of-thumb regarding the mount plates. I see they also have part numbers for those. Do I NEED to replace my original ones if I'm having new struts installed, or can the struts seat into the OE plates?

I would like to have ALL of the parts that I will likely need, then i can just use the shop for lift and labor. But I don't want to buy more than I will really need, either.

ccr will NOT work. If you are getting just the struts, you will need to figure out if you are going to reuse the mounting plate. I would at the least get new strut bearings.

OK, so no CCR. Does the 'air' portion of these Sensatracs allow the ELC to work then? I'm guessing that the compressor lines just feed into the air fittings.

So, what controlled the CCR system? I figured that was what the air did, but I guess I was wrong?

if you order the rear with air, yes, elc will work. they all use the same air fittings. ccr is controlled by a ccr controller under drivers seat. it adjusts a valve in strut to effect oil damping.

Ah, I see. So those OE struts were something very out of the ordinary, then. I have read that they are DISCONTINUED and quite expensive, too, if you can find them.

It would have been cool to find a way to make that CCR system work.

I'm thinking that I'll just order up the 4 struts, boots and mounting plates, and let my shop decide what they need to use to get this done. Then hopefully I can return any leftover parts. I've got a possible WSS that is bad too, as the ABS/Traction system isn't working now either, and I'd like to get both done at once, and just have to have the alignment done once that way, in case I need a new hub anywhere too.

jy, find a donor with working ccr struts. should be at the most $50 per strut
