Random dying then no-start??
Err yea, been having this issue latly. Once in a while, while driving after the car has warmed up. It will suddenly cut off. As in just no wanring, just bing, dead, will lose all power, no noises no warning. Then after turning the key off and putting it in park to start it, it will crank, but not turn over. The battery and alternator are fine, the starte is fine, and is drawing the right amps. It just seems like it'* either getting no fuel or no spark. After lettign it sit ofr upwards of 30 minutes, it will start, but start very hard..then run fine. It does it liek evry couple of days or even up to a week between occurances, just random times. I am thinking it could possibly be a coil or the modual getting overheated and failing...explaining the fact it will satrt once it sits. But..I really do not have the funds to go buying parts at random. Anyoen out there have seen this before?

Please put your year and trim level in your Signature.
You are right on your proposal of the Heat-Related Failure of the Coils. That is a possibility. If the car just up and quits no problem, chances are it isn't fuel related, but more ignition/electronic related.
When the car cuts out, and you try to restart it, does the tach move about when cranking?

Ermm it'* a 92 SE...muncha mods...the engine temp, as in the fluid tmep itself isnt overheating..in fact it stays between 180-200 90% of the time unless I'm stuck in traffic which it hops to 210.. As for the tach, I really never actually noticed...

Had/have the same problem in my SSEi but it would start up np and then die. . . . . . . . . looks like a fuel pump (been going).
If it was the battery/ground radio would reset and lights/everything would not work - it wouldn't even try to turn over. Now this crankshaft sensor has me worried?? how much/how hard to replace??

My 97 had a crank shaft sensor go out. Same thing, stalled when it felt like it and then wouldnt start. Cost about 250.00 to replace. No problems now.
