End of an era
It happened... the stars were aligned, events conspired.. well, actually things just kinda fell into place. Still going strong, it was time to rebuild my tranny.
I am now going to officially declare this the longest lasting, hardest working, stock 65HD( till someone can show me different )
It is 2am, Thursday, Sept, 27 2007. WIth 2 trannies, slicks, jack, tools, luggage for 2 (wife went along), she embarked on a pilgrimage to mecca (Intense). It was a 16 hour, 1000 mile journey, she was confident and strong, never missing a beat. I think she knew what was happening.
It is 9am, were are we?
I carded one of the customer reps in the office, he ran out after me when we were about to leave and said the lady who deals with promotions would give me a call and maybe see about getting us a perm BC discount code.
We see this, but decide we are disadvantaged too much with the weight
Here she is, 7am on Friday the 28th. Patiently waiting, but anxious. TIm is late.
I'll let Tim and Todd share their thoughts here
In the end, she ended up with alot more than she was expecting.
Stock gearing
Hardend input shaft
3250 stall TC
new stock diff w/ new(used) 99 output shaft, because 97 seems to have something weird with everything about it.
Then it was off to Morad Parts, meet up with Ed at his new digs. Picked up a fender and fuel pump for Andrew and then off to Byron.
I am now going to officially declare this the longest lasting, hardest working, stock 65HD( till someone can show me different )

Wow, if I do the math, mine should have 300,000 miles in about 70 years
Either that or I'll have to get a job in Ohio and commute from the West coast every week for a year.
So did you get an LSD? The high stall converter is nice......hope you upped the cooler.

Very cool, Travis! Hope she gives you almost 300,000 more miles of faithful service. Oh, and I hope your car lasts a long time, too.
And damn... that'* an awesome pic of your burnout. The video is amazing as well. Why put on such a smoke show? Just trying to get a bunch of heat in the slicks? The tranny should be more than capable now

I also need to publicly give Boosty a thank you. while the tranny case was in the washer I mentioned to Tim about my wet bottom and mentioned a plate behind the flex plate that needed tightening. Since I was getting a new TC (and of course a different flexplate, more money) he said he would check. All the bolts were loose. He first gave the gasket an initial inspection and decided to just re-torque the bolts. Then he cleaned the whole area and then found a break in the gasket. Found out when you replace that gasket you also get (have) to do a coolent and oil change (more money). I haven't been under there yet, but I am expecting a dry bottom now

Glad I could be involved remotely for drying your bottom. Many of us with oil seepage appear to find that the bolts on the back cover have come loose. Nice part is how it appears as an oil pan gasket and we constantly chase our tails trying to cure a rear cover gasket with a fresh oil pan gasket.
Those clutches look amazing for that mileage. It'* no wonder your car treats you so well, you treat it well also.
