Default OIL PRESSURE FLUCTUATION

Can NE1 tell me why my oil pressure will be at approximately 40 right after starting, but within 5 minutes will then dip below 10 (in the red!!!) every time I stop accelerating???

What is your year and trim level? Also, how many miles are on the engine?

Would be a good idea to add all that information into your signature.

Before we go too crazy trying to diagnose this, when was the last oil change and is the oil at the correct level?

My 97 did a similar thing and it was merely an oil change cause previous owner was 2K over on a dino juice change when I got the car.

Okay. I am a new Bonnie owner, and new to this site, so forgive me if I go astray. As far as trim level goes... errrrrrrrrrr. huh? It' a 95 supercharged SSEI (i updated signature to reflect that). As for Oil level and cleanliness, I'm all good there. (changed yesterday)
...Oh yeah, and the car is Green...-Just like me -----oh yeah...90K miles on rebuilt engine.

Sounds good...no problem on being new...we all are at some point.

Trim level is the SSEi

Congrats..I have one of those as well. Great year for a lot of stuff. Pain for other stuff...

My 95 SSEi (yup green) runs around 45-55 w/2krpm down the highway, about 20 at idle say a stoplight. Both these readings are after it'* warmed up.

What oil did you put in? 5W-30W would be thinner than 10W-30W. Might give you a little. But..I should add, you are running within spec and should be fine.

Cool. Thanks fro the info. I don't see how I could be within normal range when the stupid warning bell (ding-ding-ding-ding) keeps sounding when I dip below 10. I also don't care for the digital indicator that makes it look as if your engine is gonna go boom when this occurs. What now?

Sorry my bad...I thought you had said down to 10. I reread and see below 10.

Has it done this since you've owned it?...I'm assuming yes because you just got it. First thing you could try is to add a bottle of STP oil treatment. It'* super thick stuff and should bring the pressure up at least a little.

Get the car to a mechanic and have a mechanical oil pressure gauge hooked up to verify what the pressure REALLY is. If there'* a noticable difference, change your oil pressure sensor.

Change your oil and filter, too.
