Default NAPA and Monroe say that Reflex struts aren't available

Went to NAPA to buy my Reflex struts and the Reflex part number was redirected to the Sensatracs. I called Monroe and tech support said that they aren't making the Reflexes any more for my vehicle.

I have an SE '95 VIN K with no ELC or air shocks.

The front Sensatracs I bought were the 71822 and the rears 71799. All four with tax were a six pack shy of $300 US.

The Reflexes that aren't available anymore are the 931822 and the 931799.

The Monroe site still has the Reflexes listed. I wanted them because I wanted a stiffer ride. Anything will be better than the 120K mile stock ones now. Everytime I get in it now I want to sing the B52 Love Shack song -- "I got me a Bonnie that'* as big as a WHAAAALE. It'* about to set SAAAAIL."

Off topic...

I just found this and how ironic that you just posted about the B52s:

Thought I'd chip in here and verify that Monroe REFLEX struts are, indeed, being discontinued for the Bonnevilles. My son is the service writer at an independent auto shop and did a lot of checking with NAPA. According to the persons he talked to, there was some sort of problem with the REFLEX strut on the Bonnevilles and Monroe was no longer providing this shock for them. That'* the story he got anyway. Once the current stock is gone, that'* it.

Mike tried to locate a set of REFLEX struts for me, and thought he did. But, alas, when we got them they were actually (Monroe) SENSA-TRACs. :o No worries, though, after 180+k on the original struts I could probably cram some WalMart specials in there and still see a marked improvement!

Bottom line seems to be if you manage to get REFLEX struts, they're likely to be the last ones you get. I'll let you know how the SENSA-TRACs ride once I get them in (after Christmas!).

BTW, my SSE does not have the elecronic ride control, but it does have rear load-leveling (ELC). The SENSA-TRACs I got are direct replacements.

Well, I have mine in and I love them. The car used to hit something and just wag all over the place, now it just compresses and comes right back to neutral position. It handles corners and brakes better. It seems like a different car.

If you have anywhere near 100K miles or more do this upgrade. DIY price is $300 US and worth every penny.
