in order of what you should look for, clean the contacts on the key, try different key, try bypassing key with resistor, try bypassing security module signal to pcm.

how do u bypass the key with the resistor or bypass security module to pcm??? I already tried cleaning the key and this one is my only copy

I did this exact thing to my oldsmobile and I haven't had a problem. Looks hard in the pictures but when you get under there you will understand everything better. |
thanks i found the problem i had the key tested and it was in great shape. The guy at Pontiac told me i prolly had a problem with my ignition switch. Now which switch do i need I see 3 choices locking with floor console, non locking with floor console, and non locking without?

It's probably not actually the ignition switch unless he actually checked it out. The VATS wires have a tendency to break and or fray with movement of the steering wheel. A common point of failure is where the wires connect to the ignition switch, which is why the dealers usually just replace the switch instead of trying to repair the wires right by the switch

That will fix it. Its cheap and easier to do. |
