Seafoaming...
Anyone Seafoam a 3800 Series II motor by any chance? Any Cons with this product?
|
Lots of us have. I did mine a few months ago. I sucked about 1/3 of the can in to one of the smaller vac lines. When you get to that point you want to bog the engine down sucking it up. Put line back on and leave engine shut off for a good 15 mins or more. Pour the rest of the can in to the gas tank. When you start the engine it will smoke a lot and you may have to work to keep it running for a shot time. You will need to change your oil and filter shortly after as it will be black.

What other line can i use besides the brake booster one? i dont want to car stalling on me while sucking this stuff. Im guessing i need to pour some in the oil tank too since you mentioned i would have to change the oil.
I might not do it since im afraid that it may kill something in the motor since the sludge could be preventing something to mess up. |
I don't suggest using the brake boost line. Find a line the connects between the Throttle body and the UIM. No need to put it in the oil, enough should get threw the top clean to get the oil dirty.

What exactly does the seafoam do?
|
Top clean removes carbon deposits. Bottem clean removes sludge, fuel system removes water and other deposits.

Wel I just did the uim and plim and it was pretty clean going in. I use fuel treatments around every 1000 miles and my oil pressure sits kinda high usually 90-100 when cold. The motor is a 97 with 80,000 do you think I should foam it all. Im new at these computerized 6 bangers.
|
I only did my top and fuel. Guess that would depend on the condition of the engine.

Engine runs great,I think I'll leave it be. Thanks for the input.

Just did mine as well: good stuff. A guy I knew years ago had been a Mechanic in the Army. He SWORE BY THIS STUFF. Said he was stationed in Alaska and they used it for all their transport vehicles and it worked great: especially with regard to problems associated with cold weather. ( I live in Michigan, so this is relevant for me) I use it in my lawn mowers, boat, everything.
