Default I can't turn my steering wheel unless I move.

My power steering fluid level is full, but the steering wheel won't turn sitting still. Only when vehicle is in motion. Am I missing a bearing?

The engine must be running to allow the Power Assist though!

Ok, let me try this again. When I start the ignition, let the car warm up, everything is fine, BUT, when I want to turn the steering wheel to get out of a parking spot, I have a hard time like I ran out of power steering fliud. I Checked it and the level is fine. Got me so far? Now the only time I don't have the problem steering is when I am moving! I can't explain it no simpilar than that. OF COURSE THE CAR IS ON! I need to figure out why the steering wheel won't turn easy when stationary.

Weak P/* Pump? Restricted or blockage in the line? How dirty is the fluid? Did you have the system bled recently? How about the system flushed out?

I just had that problem. At a dead stop you can't turn the wheel at all, but once you start moving a little it turns with ease. I had to have my steering pump and rack replaced and it works fine. Does it whine or make a lot of noises when you try to turn?

O ya, when I did check my fluid it smelled burnt, take the cap off and smell the little stick.

What an "a" hole. Rat was just trying to help. If he seems sarcastic... hes not.

That'* okay Kuhl, some people forget the obvious, so I thought I would mention it.

Getting back at the problem at hand though....If none of the things I mentioned have been done >>>>

Then start there first! By ruling out these options (System Bleed & System Flush), you can determine if a new Rack & Pinion or P/* Pump is warranted or not before spending the money for it to then find out is was just a blockage or something cheaper!
