Default "check engine" indicator on

Hi,

Lately my check engine indicator has been going off. It seems to go off at the end of a trip when I am idling at a stop. I do know that my exhaust is in need of replacement and I think it leaks up front.

Could this have something to do with it? Other than that it runs fine. ANy ideas?

Thanks

Tom

check Techinfo it will show you how to check the codes and will tell you what sensor is not reading correctly.

I must be dense, I can't find that - can you point me to the right one? Read through them all but not finding anything about the codes...

You have a 95. You'll need a scanner to read the codes. There'* no way to 'guess' what'* wrong when that light comes on.

Most likely....Yes. It is capable of saving the codes, sometimes "Other" conditions can flash the SES light, but no hard codes stored.

A scantool will pull history codes as well as current codes. Sometimes if there are too many to be able to diagnose the actual source, you can clear the codes, drive for a day or two, and come back with fresher codes.
