Ok guys,

Just signed up. My 93 bonny'* starter wen so I crawled under, disconnected the 2 wires, then the flywhel bolt(just 1).

I can see the starter bolts under the cover, but do I need to jack the engine to pull the starter cover or am I missing something.

I don't wan't to break the cover, but it might be easier to do that, grind off the offending tab, and glue it back.

Manual says to remove it, but doesn't give any details.

Let me know if there'* any trick.

On the 93 I believe there are only two 10mm bolts underneath holding it to the trans bell housing. On some of the 96ish and up, I've noticed a third bolt on the front of the trans and or a plastic push tab.

Hop on down there and win the battle. BTW..don't let the starter drop on your hand. It'* in a crappy place with relation to the frame.

There was only 1 bolt hold it in place and was also clamping the pos cable from the battery.

I can push it around quite a bit, and even see the bolts, but it gets stuck on the lower cross frame and can't pull it out without a good possibility of breaking it.

Say "oops" and do then what you need to do.

No optional plastic cover is ever going to make me walk instead of drive.

BTW found the real problem, also related to my thunking post. Broken mount. Probably low enough not to allow the removal of the cover.
