Found my noise, it was the idler pulley
I pulled the pulley off and there is a seal on both sides of the bearing, I popped the seal off and cleaned and repacked it with disc brake grease and its quiet as a mouse now. How long it will last I have no clue ! :P

My idler pulley makes noise too but only when it is cold out. How hard was this procedure? Do I need any special tools? Also is the idler pulley the same as the idle tensioner pulley (i think thats what its called)?

I would like to know that same question. I am having problems with mine, and the garage keeps on putting new stuff on there, but it stil wont fix it. New water pump and idler tension pulley so far, and it still makes that noise

Cake !
Pc of cake. Its a left hand bolt goes right thru the center, remove the bolt with a socket and rachet not too tough to do , then just let the belt lay to the side and remove the bolt and the pulley falls off in your hand. On both sides around the bearing is a seal, take a pocket knife point and pop out the seal on both sides. Clean and spray it real well with WD40 and blow it dry. Then use some good Hi temp wheel bearing grese and pack it in on both sides then wipe the exces and press the seal back in with your thumbs. Re install the wheel remember its a left thread nd put the belt back on and listen to the quiet !!

pulley
this could be my problem on my 90.
The idler pulley started to squeal then ate the belt then took out the crank sensor.
Didn't know the pulley is removeable.
Does GM stock just the pully or do they make you buy the whole thing?

I just tried to take my pulley off. Couldnt do it. If its a left hand bolt does that mean righty loosey, lefty tighty (sorry for the insanely dumb question)? I gave up because its very cold in Rhode Island tonight.
