Default Transmission Cooler Lines

How big of a deal is it to install new transmission cooler lines? Mine have developed a leak around the factory crimp that goes around the rubber hose.

They aren't bad at all to replace. I replaced a set on a 94 SSEi and they were cake. You will lose fluid, so make sure to have something to catch the lost fluid. And it is common for them to leak at the crimp, mine were.

Overall..they can be easy or tough.

Line wrenches are suggested, as is possibly removing the passenger side fan (3 10mm bolts) to get better access at the radiator.

Once they are undone at the trans and radiator you are homefree.

Great thanks. Probably a good time to replace the fluid if it'* going to start coming out the holes.

You will lose such a small amount it'* not worth considering. However.. it was mentioned so you don't forget to put something underneath and leave oil on the driveway/floor.

I just did the lines on my '95. The new ones were about $55 from the dealer IIRC. Start it up while it is still up and safely supported and let it run a bit to check for leaks. Mine had to be retightened twice at the trans fittings to stop leaking.

I just replaced the lines on my 96. They were badly corroded and I had to soak the fittings in Power blaster over night to get them to cooperate.
Mine were $55 from the dealer as well.
Like BillBoost said, line wrenches made the job a LOT easier.

Got my cooler lines installed (pretty easy) and all has stopped leaking there. Now I noticed I've developed a leak on the large nut on the back of the rack/pinion or at least in the general vacinity. So now I have that to contend with. Thanks for all the input on this.
