replacing outer tie rods...
 
hey

im wondering if the tool to separate the tie rod end, from the knuckle is really needed
or is it one of those "u can do it with muscle" jobs.

also any tips will be good.

hey i need to do the same thing...replace the outer and the inner tire rods.

It depends how old your bad your tierods ends are. I've a few that took one hit of the hammer to pop out and I've had others that took a good half hour with the fork. For what it costs for one of those tools I shouldn't be a really big deal.

Agreed.... I have used a hammer on a number of ocassions and never had an issue... Not hard to do, but the Toe in/out will have to be reset
