Well, I've been reading the threads about water pooling on the floorboards, but haven't found anything about the back seats yet. I pulled the back seat bottom, and found that the foam under the driver'* side was wet. I assume this points to the back window leaking? There are definitely some iffy looking areas around the edge of the back glass which I tried to silicone over, but maybe I missed a spot? Or can water that gets by the door gaskets end up here? Another backseat question- are there any other fasteners holding the vertical seatback in place other than the 2 regular nuts and 2 funky hex nut fasteners?

It is big relief to get that putrid smelling carpet & rotten underlayment out of the car. I found that the primary wetness was on the driver'* side. In fact, I had water pooled under the rear passenger side footwell, and it hasn't rained for days!

I am first going to replace the front door seals, then if that doesn't work, I will pull the front doors and check the inner panel seal.

One last question-- I pulled these two little squares that are covering circular holes on either side at the perimeter frame/channel under the bottom of the rear doors. I imagine these were put there for a reason-- to keep water out?? Or are they just there for sound proofing?

Do you have a sun roof? If the drain tubes get clogged or come off you can get water in the car. Also, check the wheel wells, if they rust threw water will get on the seats.

No sunroof, seems like one of the few options this car doesn't have. I went through the whole sunroof drain clog routine with my '69 Cougar w/ factory sunroof a few years ago though...what a PITA.

I'll check the wheelwells in the daytime, but I have a feeling they are not rusted.

This Olds leaks like crazy! I set up my hose to spray in an arc to replicate rain fall and parked the car under in various before/after attempts.

I replaced the front driver'* door gasket, and cleaned up/ reseated the back drivers side door gasket. Both had shrunk about an inch. The back door leak stopped. But I'm still getting a leak from the top of the driver'* door, plus a leak bottom of passenger door, and top of passenger side back door. Have not attempted replacing/reseating the passenger side doors, I'm beginning to think its not worth the effort...

Because... there is also leak from dead center of the firewall behind a computer disk lookin' thingie. I have absolutely no idea how to find and or patch this leak.

I think I may seriously just look into rhino-lining the floor and/or drilling drain holes in the pan, and using black astroturf for carpeting.

I have now fixed both back doors and the front passenger door by replacing and/or re-sealing the the door gaskets.

I plan on using butyl tape normally used for home window flashing/sealing on the top of the driver'* door.

Does anybody have a clue what/where the leak is that seems to be coming from dead center of the firewall, and how to fix it? A buddy suggested just spraying right stuff all up under there and hoping for the best...

not sure if this helps, but i had a similar problem with my 2000 Bonn. inside was flooding but there was no rain. the A/C drain outlet was clogged. it'* located just off center on the firewall above the exhaust pipe. has insulation around it.
