Can you elaborate on how you dropped the subframe and changed the trans without using a hoist (I'm picturing lots of jackstands or a floorjack supporting the engine, which scares me). If I can avoid using a hoist that will save me having to drive 4 hours each way to borrow my friends. I go to school at Villanova, but will be working on the Buick at home in CT.
By the way, you can't use my 97 trans in your 95, 97 is a one model year only trans as far as interchangeability. Plus I may rebuild the old one and install a limited slip somewhere down the road. I know your trans wouldn't work in my car, nor do I want it for my car, I got a 17k old trans in my car...you can have yours lol....I just wanted the bad one to tear apart and rebuild and see if I can't learn anything about these bastards.....Good Luck! |

I was hoping you could help narrow it down for me. Is it near the top or bottom? Or closer to the front of the vehicle, or more toward the firewall? Is there an access hole in the block somewhere? Do you go through the starter hole? Did you have to remove an exhaust manifold to see it or gain access to it? I can't find it anywhere and it's the last one that I need to remove. I'd be grateful for any info (or pics) as this thing's driving me absolutely crazy. Thanks! |

mjw, Remove rf wheel and splash guard. Backwards bolt is at the 10:00 O'Clock position of the bell housing looking in from the passenger side. You need a 3-foot extension and an 11/16" six-point to get it. The 11/16 will fit more tightly than the 18 mm. May help to remove the oil sending unit, it will be very near to being in harm's way.
