Default voltage drops after driving 30+km

I dont know if its my alternator or bad electrical but i drove down to Toronto last weekend (around a 60km trip one way), traffic as usual my voltage drops to battery power at stops and the motor starts sputtering. I quickly take her to neutral give her a quick rev, and the voltage jump back up again. This happens continuously, i put a brand new battery in there, all grounds in the engine compartment were sanded and cleaned up not long ago, any ideas? wouldnt the alternator die for good or will it give out symptoms like this?

thanks

Start with testing your alternator. https://www.gmforum.com/t279494/ Let us know what you find.

sounds like the alternator is starting to go, had the same problem with mine after replacing the battery. I recommend not going with a rebuilt alt, go for a new one.

I was thinking the same thing. As the alt heats up it gets worse.

yup its the alternator.. the hotter it gets the less it recharges my battery. Gonna pick one up from the yard this week.. Thanks guys

oh and Danthurs revving her up while hot fluctuates the voltage a bit, i used a multimeter to test it.

Should be a easy fix.
