Intermittent Driver Information on Dash Panel on 93 SSEi
Good day, all, I have an irritating little problem that I am virtually sure is a "connection" issue. The "Driver Information Panel" on the dash (this is the little picture of the car and the yellow discrepants such as when a door is open and also the odometer, too) is intermittent. Every now and again it just shuts off. Comes back on in its own mercurial time. Very frustrating. Thinking it is a loose connection. Therefore, my question is: Where are the connectors for this? Perhaps there is an accessible one that is causing problems. Anyway, any help on this would be greatly appreciated. PS: Banging on the thing doesn't work........ Thanks in advance! stever :?:

Use the procedure in Techinfo to remove the cluster. CAREFULLY disassemble the cluster, one layer at a time, one connector at a time. Use some electronic contact cleaner on each one, and work the connectors in and out. Put it all back together, and do this with the main cluster connectors, too.
This will fix the problem 75% of the time.

Gads! I was afraid that this would be the answer! I am not too thrilled to tackle taking the dash apart.....however, if that is what I have to do, well then I guess I will do so. I have another little irritating thing that may be the same answer: My boost gauge all of a sudden is erratic. The 'trend' information is correct but it jumps around so much and is obviously not the correct reading. It just started doing this. My question is: If I take on the dash cluster rebuild is there a possibility that it would correct the boost gauge? If so, I would be much more excited about taking this on! (I will also ask this question in a separate thread as I am afraid some very knowledgeable folks will not revisit this thread and miss this one. Thanks again, guys!
