Recently ran out of gas

Hello I owen a 99 pontiac bonneville 3800 engine (not supercharged) I ran out of gas a couple of weeks ago. And had no problem when i restarted! But after driving for awhile it stalled when i took my foot off acelerator. But it will start rite back up thankfully since it happens randomly in traffic. And when i go to start it when i havent driven it for say a half hour or so it takes about 8 or more cranks to get it running. It runs fine with no missing when it's running! Could the problem be that there is air in my fuel line? Can someone please help me to solve this problem?
Thank you for reading my post.

Fuel filter sucked sediment off the bottom of your tank.. get a new fuel filter and problem solved

Like mentioned, replace the fuel filter. however, this sounds a lot like a GP I had here the other week. The problem was a bad fuel pressure regulator. Pull the vacuum line and see if you smell gas.

thanks Dan but which vacume line?

The one that's on the fuel pressure regulator. That's on the fuel rail.

I would check you fuel pressure too. Running on less than a quarter tank for extended periods of time causes the fuel pump to heat up. You might need to replace the pump with your pressure is low.
