Default Rebuilding antenna mast

I'm not sure if this is the right forum--but is it possible to rebuild the stock power antenna? Just the mast. mine works fine but the reception sucks(masts do go bad--or so I've heard). I grabbed one from a park ave but the motor was different and so were the plugs--so I do have a donor mast. I took the P/A one apart and it had that long plastic zip tie thing to move the mast, I think the Bonne guts are different.
Any ideas? :?:

Anybody? Or what would be a good aftermarket replacement(cheap)?

My new magic book for the 92-99 says the mast is preplaceable seperately. I don't know if our part number will work in yours, so it would be good to compare to a newer year before going with this, but the p/n is 22154379, and it goes for $14.57 US at gmpartsdirect. The whole power antenna for a 92-99 is $75 there. If they're the same, you're in business.
