so with everyones help :wink: i started this by myself. i took down the back side of the headliner and yup, the drain hose was disconnected...so i figured, may as well take the whole headliner out, it came out really easy, the only thing holding it up besides the velcro in the back was the "oh sh***" handles. one i had those off the whole thing literally fell on me, just had to disconnect the wires and it was out. i am going to reglue the entire thing and make it beautiful, and i will be sure to glue those drain hoses unto there posts.

so actaully i am going to have one my friends dads redo the headliner, he works with older cars and is good with headliners, he said i need to buy 3M "general trim" spray adhesive, nothing else will hold good enough...anyone used this stuff?

Yup. Works great. Think of it as "nuclear-grade" contact cement.

i am thinking about totally redoing the headliner instead of just reglueing it. i am going to go to JoAnn fabrics and get a headliner material, i guess it already has a thin foam backing on it...so it will be foam to foam, should i stil use the "general trim" the headliner right now is stained, stretched, moldy, and ugly...so the new fabric will be a great improvement

There are places that specialize in auto uphostery. One that I have used near me is in Des Moines, Iowa, Gilbreath's. http://www.upholsterysupply.com/ They are able to provide the correct materials for reconditioning and can even order exact replacement fabrics for different model years and makes of cars. Unfortunately, they don't do leather. :(

I did a headliner on a Toyota Camry with a sunroof a couple of years ago and used the foam-backed furry fabric and the 3M trim adhesive. I removed all the crumbly old foam from the formed headliner first, and got it really pretty clean and smooth. It's good to have another person help to lay and smooth the fabric onto the headliner board after the adhesive has gotten sticky. The fabric is really pretty stretchy, so it goes on to the compound curve areas pretty neat.

I'll be doing my '92 SSEi in a few weeks. I'll take some pix.
