Default all stereo sound cuts out

1995 ssei, stock with original tape deck. i bought the car this weekend, and drove it 1200 miles to get it home, the whole way, i listened to the radio, everything was great. i get home, first thing i do is put in my cd playr. it is the best one i have ever seen, panasonic cq-dfx983u. the install went perfect, however, i can be listening to any song on the cd or mp3, and all of a sudden all the sound cuts out, the player is still going, cuz the numbers are advancing like normal. it will not resume sound until car or cd player is shut off. it does it at all volume levels, it does it at all tempuratures, JUST DOES IT WHEN IT FEELS LIKE IT!!! it makes me very mad....does pontiac put some sort of sound cutout on there for something? nothing is overheating, no wires are touching, i just dont get it, any help would be grealy appreciated! thanks

Usually sign of speaker shorting out to ground or to another speaker wire. Could be a bad speaker the voice coile could be shorten out all of the above will cause the internal amp to shut down until it is reset by turning power off then back on.
it could be a problem with the internal amp in the cd player

How long will it play befor it shuts down?? Try disconnecting one speaker at a time and let it play. disconnect right fr. if it cuts off hook it back up disconnect left fr. etc....

well i know its not the internal amp, i have had this cd player for about 6 months, it has worked fine, had it in my last car, lumina! and its not from wires touching, because i can be sitting int he car completely still, not running, and sometimes it goes off after only 30 secs. and without moving at all, turing off the power, and back on fixes it...hmmmmm weird huh
